A great way to keep your garden free plastic free and recycle what you already have on hand.
Use the press form strips of newspaper into plant pots. Leave the seedlings in the paper pots when planting on to avoid disturbing the roots. The newspaper will rot down in moist soil.
Growing your own plants from seed is now even more sustainable, cost-effective and environmentally friendly.
Instructions:
- Tear a strip of newspaper approximately 40 cm long and wide.
- Fold the strip in half along the length
- Roll the strip around the press with the folded edge at the top of the cylinder (paper will overhang the bottom of the press)
- Holding the rolled paper, scrunch the bottom edge and tuck it inwards under the press
- Align with the base of the press. Push down firmly with a twist to crimp the paper pot base then slide the pot off the press.
